dawns
TOWN OF MASHPEE
BOARD OF APPEALS
TOWN HALL, MASHPEE, MASSACHUSETTS 02649
PAg DECISION
RE: Petition of Jill Ackerman Slaymaker for a Variance Case
#V-85-05-019
A petition was filed by Jill Ackerman Slaymaker of Cotuit,
Massachusetts for a Variance for permission to vary the minimum lot
frontage requirements on property located on Old Mill Road, Mashpee,
Massachusetts.
Notice was duly given to abutters in accordance with Massach-
usetts General Laws Chapter 40A. Notice was given by publication
in the Falmouth Enterprise, a newspaper of general circulation in
the Town of Mashpee on April 24, 1985 and May 1 , 1985 a copy of
which is attached hereto and made a part hereof.
A public hearing was. held on the petition at the Mashpee Town
Hall on Wednesday, May 8, 1985, at 7 :30 p.m. at which time the follow-
ing members of the Board of Appeals were present and acting through-
out: Manuel Costa, Michael Makunas and Cheryl Hawver.
Ms. Ackerman explained that the manager is required to live on
the farm because you. need 24 hour security, in addition she must be
able to see and hear the barn and horses. If the barn proposed were
to be placed anywhere else security would be impossible. There is
also a steep hill on the property that would be a problem for the
feed truck. Chief Hartin told Ms. Ackerman that he didn't want. the
buildings to be further than 1000 feet from the hydrant. Ms. Ackerman
said it would be a pole barn very conservative, with 5/8 inch tongue
and groove exterior which will be stained. The structure will be
wooden.
The Board found the hardship to be the terrain of the lot.
