p
s LeIIto Environmental Consultants
w qct
3
saaa<5Y1`
community exists because of its low proximity to the water
table.
r soil sampling stations located in the zone between the
salt marsh and the upland were established to determine the
depth to groundwater and soil types . The soils found here
contain a very shallow organic zone underlaid by a course sand
of ,glacial outwash origin. The depth to ground water was
recorded at an un-seasonably high level due to the unusually
heavy rainfall this spring.
Test hole No. 1 - 0 - 4 inches organic soil
- 4 - 20 inches coarse sand
- ground water at 9 inches
Test hole No. 2 - 0 - 4 inches organic soil
- 4 - 18 inches coarse sand
- ground water at 4 inches
Test hole No. 3 - 0 - 3 inches organic soil
- 3 - 10 inches grey coarse sand
- 10 - 24 inches brightly
colored coarse gravel
- ground water at 24 inches
Test hole No. 4 - 0 - 3 inches organic
- 3 - 13 inches coarse sand
- ground water at 11. 5 inches
These well drained soils limit the wetland plant community to
the lowest portion of the site adjacent to the Salt Marsh. If
poorly drained soils were present on this site they would
allow the development of a more extensive wetland plant
community.
CONCLUSIONS
The boundaries of the wetlands described above have been
accurately located using appropriate criteria and
methodologies . Based on this field determination it is LEC' s
opinion that these areas as defined are significant and
subject to jurisdiction under the Wetland Protection Act. The
proposed activities on Lot #65 are permissible under the
Wetlands Protection Act. The mitigation proposed on the
Notice of Intent will prevent any detrimental effects to the
resource areas during and after the proposed construction
takes place.
