Leach for a Variance V-88-06-057
A Petition was filed by George C. Leach of Lynnfield, Massachusetts
for a Variance for permission to construct a bulkhead in front of an
existing deteriorating retaining wall on Hamblin Pond on property
located at Lots 9 and 10 Monomoscoy Road (Map 114, Lots 9 and 10)
Mashpee, Massachusetts.
Notice was duly given to abutters in accordance with Massachusetts
General Laws Chapter 40A. Notice was given by publication in the Falmouth
Enterprise, a newspaper of general circulation in the Town of Mashpee on
July 27 and August 3, 1988, a copy of which is attached hereto and made
a part hereof.
A Public Hearing was held on Wednesday, August 10, 1988 at 7:30 p.m.
at which time the following members of the Board of Appeals were present
and acting throughout: Richard Halpern, Edward Govoni and Cheryl Hawver.
The Board was informed that the applicant proposes to construct
a bulkhead in front of an existing deteriorating retaining wall to prevent
further erosion on the shore line. The Conservation Commission had
recommended that the present wall be left intact since removing it would
cause further damage to the land. The Shellfish Constable supported the
Petition and stated that the new wall would improve the marine life in
the area.
