MASHPEE FINANCE COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES <br /> DECEMBER 12, 1995 <br /> MEETING COMMENCED AT 7:OOPM <br /> Finance Committee members present: Marcia King, Chairman; Sid <br /> Golub; Dan Goggin and Juan Bacigalupi. Tony Gallo and Alec Watt <br /> were unable to attend. <br /> School Committee members present: Janice Mills, Chairman; Steve <br /> Paxton; Terri Cook and Kathy Lynch. David Consalvi was unable to <br /> attend. Dr. Lincoln DeMoura, Superintendent, was also present at <br /> the meeting for discussion. <br /> Please note for the record that the taping of this meeting is for <br /> the transcription of the Minutes only. Once the Minutes are <br /> approved, the tapes will be reused. <br /> Minutes <br /> Juan Bacigalupi Motioned to accept the Minutes of November 14, 1995 <br /> as written. Mr. Goggin seconded the Motion and members approved <br /> 4-0. The Minutes of November 28th will be voted on at the next <br /> regularly scheduled meeting. <br /> New Member Interview <br /> Mike Kumin was available to answer any questions Finance Committee <br /> members had for him. Hearing no questions, the Chairman informed <br /> Mr. Kumin that she would notify him of the vote taken at the close <br /> of the meeting. <br /> Joint Meeting - School Committee <br /> Dr. DeMoura led the discussion by providing different charts for <br /> the Finance Committee's review, as well as Draft #4 of the high <br /> school budget, projected expenses per pupil and high school budget <br /> projections through FY2000. Dr. DeMoura asked that discussions <br /> focus on the high school primarily. The Finance Committee asked <br /> for projections for Special Education. Dr. DeMoura answered that <br /> Special Education is very difficult to project. <br /> Dr. DeMoura indicated that a regular child in the Mashpee Public <br /> School per pupil expenditure for FY93 through FY95 has gone down <br /> from $3,966 per student to $3 ,646 in FY96 to $3,543 in FY95. It is <br /> Dr. DeMoura's opinion that this is going the wrong way. He feels <br /> that the Town will never reach the targeted goal of $5,500 per <br /> student. Mr. Golub asked how the school differentiates between <br /> regular and special education students? Dr. DeMoura stated that <br /> each student has an individual plan. Ms. King asked the number of <br /> SPED students? The answer was 215 as of October 1995. Ms. King <br /> then asked the number of regular students? The answer was 1,802 as <br />
