3 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> June 29, 2000 <br /> Recommendation to Employ a Professional Facilitator: <br /> At the last meeting,Mashpee Wamponoag Indian Tribal Council President <br /> Glenn Marshall requested the Selectmen consider not using the law firm <br /> of Hale and Dorr to assist with the federal recognition process. <br /> In response, Selectman Leveille recommended the Board take advantage <br /> of the opportunity to submit formal correspondence to the Tribal Council <br /> in full agreement to participate in unconditional discussions, unbiased, <br /> with the use of a professional facilitator other than Hale &Doff in an <br /> attempt to build consensus. <br /> Mr. Marshall applauded the Selectmen's efforts, and offered to remit to <br /> the Board, a list of facilitators for consideration. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Marsters to send correspondence to the <br /> Tribal Council as recommended, and review a list of professional <br /> facilitators for consideration. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Taylor. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> COPS In School Grant Program: <br /> Motion made by Selectman Marsters to place the above topic as an <br /> agenda item of the Board of Selectmen. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Cahalane. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> Selectman Marsters recommended the Board remit the proper grant <br /> paperwork related to the COPS In School Program to afford the Town the <br /> opportunity to select the grant if it chooses to do so. The grant will <br /> provide funding for two police officers to act as resource officers in the <br /> school system. The three-year grant if attained, will provide 75% of the <br /> officer's salaries. The officer's would augment the patrol force when <br /> school is not in session. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Marsters to approve the COPS In School <br /> Grant Program application as recommended. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Cahalane. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br />
