201 <br />Special Town Meeting -2- August 4, 1971 <br />Article 6 Ctd: / <br />ACTION: Motion duly made and seconded the Town raise and appropriate <br />the sum of $6,000.00. A vote. <br />ARTICLE 7. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate or <br />take from available funds the sum of $6,500.00 for repair and remodeling <br />of the Old Avant Homestead, or take any other action thereon.' <br />,ACTION: Motion made and seconded article•be amended to read: <br />To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the stun of <br />.86,500.00.for repair and remodeling of the Old Avant Homestead, <br />and to appoint Mr. Frank Homeyer in an advisory capacity, or take <br />any other action thereon. So voted. <br />ARTICLE 8. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate or <br />take from available funds the sum of $20,000.00 for the purchase of a <br />front-end loader equipped with special puncture proof tires to be used <br />in the Sanitary Landfill at the Town Disposal Area. <br />ACTION: Motion duly made and seconded to table Article 8. A unanimous . <br />vote. <br />ARTICLE 9. To see if the Tom will vote to raise and appropriate or <br />take from available funds the sum of $6,500.00 to cover the cost of <br />hiring a front-end loader 9perator at the Town Disposal Area. <br />ACTION: Motion duly made and seconded to table article. A unanimous. <br />vote. <br />ARTICLE 10. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate or <br />take from available funds the sum of $15,400.00 to be used in the Sani- <br />tary Landfill at the Town Disposal Area by contract for nine months. <br />ACTION: Motion duly made and seconded article be amended to read: <br />' To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum <br />of P15,400.00 to be used in the Sanitary Landfill at the Town <br />Disposal Area by negotiated contract for nine months. A <br />unanimous vote. <br />ARTICLE 11. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate or <br />take from available funds the sum of seven thousand dollars $67,000.00) <br />to build a baseball field behind the Town Hall, of take any other action <br />thereon. <br />ACTION: Motion duly made and seconded to raise and appropriate the sum <br />of $67,000.00. A unanimous vote. <br />ARTICLE 12. To see if the Town will vote to cr.6ate.a..Council.6nLAging <br />and:!toradopt.the following by-law int'accordance with the provision of C <br />Chapter 40 Section 8B of the General Laws: Section 1. The Board of <br />Selectman shall appoint a Council on Aging for the purpose of co- <br />ordinating or carrying out programs designed to meet the problems of <br />the aging in cooperation with programs of the Commission on Aging <br />established under Chapter 6, Section 73 of the General Laws. <br />Section 2. The Board of Selectman shall appoint the Council on Aging <br />consisting of seven (7) members. Upon acceptance of this by-law, the <br />Board shall appoint three (3) members for three (3) years, two (2) <br />members for two (2) years and two (2) members for one (1) year term. <br />'Members can be re -appointed for concurrent terms. The members of the <br />Council shall serve without pay. <br />Section 3. whenever a vacancy shall occur in the membership of the <br />Council, by reason of death, resignation, inability to act or for any <br />other reason, the vacancy shall be filled by appointment by the Select- <br />man for the remainder of the term. <br />Section 4. The Council' -on Aging at its first annual meeting and there- <br />after, annually in April of each year, shall elect from its membership <br />a President, 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President, Secretary and , <br />Treasurer. Each officer shall hold office until the next annual <br />election. 7n the event a vacancy occurs in any of the offices above, <br />the Council: shall hold a'special meeting for the purpose of electing <br />one of its members to fill such vacancy.
