Asher's Path audit is completed and after approval for disbursement by MassHousing and Mass
Housing Investment Corp. This merit bonus would be above and beyond that contracted bonus.
A short discussion ensued and a motion was made by Jill Allen and seconded by Melissa
Phillips to grant Mrs. Botsford a merit bonus in the amount of$12,000.00. The motion
was adopted. Mr. Shackett stated it was well deserved. Mrs. Botsford stated that she was
stunned but extremely grateful and appreciative not only of the bonus but for the support and
feedback she received from the members,
NEW BUSINESS:
a) Annual Report to Town: The draft report was distributed to board members prior to the meeting.
If there are any changes Mrs. Botsford can make them and if not she will submit to the town.
There were no changes suggested.
b) Increase to cable charge: Mrs. Botsford reminded the board that in May we received a letter
regarding an increase in cable for residents as part of our bulk packaging, At the time, it was
suggested to wait and implement the increase for March 1 which is when new lease addendums
get signed. The increase would be $1. The $16 per month resident charge provides basic cable
service to the resident and also the TV in the Community Room. A motion was made by
Kevin Shackett and seconded by Melissa Phillips to increase the resident cable charge
from $15 to$16 per month. The motion was adopted.
c) Weapons Policy Adoption: Mrs. Botsford presented the board with a draft policy that other
housing authorities are using. Unfortunately there has been increasing violence at housing
authority properties across the Commonwealth and housing authority staff have no idea or not if
residents possess a fire arm. This policy would advise the resident of their obligations under the
law and also let the housing authority know who has a firearm and who doesn't. A short
discussion ensued and it was suggested that the line "MMA will provide a list of units that house
guns and ammunition to the Mashpee Police and Fire Departments for public safety purposes" be
deleted. A motion was made by Jill Allen and seconded by Kevin Shackett to adopt the
Weapons Policy as amended. Mrs. Botsford stated she will have all residents fill out a form
indicating whether they have a firearm or not and this policy will be implemented. New
residents, when leasing up, will be required to sign the form.
OTHER BUSINESS: The chairperson stated he has some other business. The Junior Honor Society at
the school is planning a service project to serve Asher's Path residents with a"text-perts"program to be
held on a Saturday in March. He will bring the proposal to the meeting next month.
COMMUNICATIONS/CORRESPONDENCE: Mrs. Botsford forwarded to all members the
correspondence from the town, dated December 30, 2015, with regard to Conflict of Interest
certifications. All board members signed their acknowledgment forms and Mrs. Botsford will submit to
the town, along with Mr. Halpern's which she has already received.
MEETING ADJOURNMENT: A motion was made by Jill Allen and seconded by Kevin Shackett to
adjourn.
