6 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> July 25, 2016 <br /> APPOINTMENTS & HEARINGS <br /> Police Chief Scott Carline indicated there is a lot of community engagement. Next week a <br /> National Night-Out is planned to be held at the Mashpee Police Department. In partnership with <br /> the Mashpee community this will be food and family fun event with activities such as finger <br /> painting and a dunk tank. <br /> Rodney C. Collins, Town Manager and former Chief of Police indicated that what is going on <br /> throughout our country makes the job in law enforcement more difficult and it is important to <br /> convey the police department is equally important in the Town of Mashpee. On behalf of the <br /> Town of Mashpee Town Manager Collins stated publically to the Mashpce Police Department <br /> that we support you,we salute you, and stay safe. The presence of the police department <br /> resonates with children and the police are not to fear. <br /> With regards to community policing,John Harris,president of the Johns Pond Estate Association <br /> stated the police presentation has been excellent and the community supports the program 100%. <br /> A few years ago the police department organized a neighborhood watch program. Mr. Harris <br /> indicated he would like to see this instituted again. Mr. Harris expressed appreciation to the <br /> Mashpee Police Department for a job well done. <br /> Catherine Laurent, DPW Director: <br /> Catherine Laurent, Director of Public Works was in attendance to review the following matters <br /> with the Board of Selectmen; <br /> AccWtance of recommendation for award of contract for hauling from the Transfer Station,, <br /> Gotta Do Contracting LLC: <br /> Ms. Laurent in her memorandum of July 18, 2016 recommended the Board award a contract to <br /> Gotta Do Contracting LLC of Jordan,NY for the hauling of recyclables/bulky waste to <br /> processing facilities located in Westport,Avon,New Bedford, Taunton, Bourne and Sandwich. <br /> The Town does not own the equipment to haul roll-offs,therefore contracting for this service is <br /> necessary. It was noted the Director of Public Works determines where the waste will be hauled <br /> dependent upon the types of materials,transportation and lower cost tipping fees. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Cahalane to accept the recommendation of the DPW Director <br /> and award a contract for the hauling of recyclables/bulky waste to Gotta Do Contracting <br /> LLC. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Sherman. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> Roll Call Vote: <br /> Selectman Gottlieb,yes Selectman Cahalane,yes Selectman O'Hara,yes <br /> Selectman Cotton,yes Selectman Sherman,yes Opposed, none <br />
