There was a discussion on servicing Mashpce residents with the mobile food pantry who <br /> are homebound due to a disability,the elderly, or have a health issue. It was agreed the <br /> market needs to be defined and then come up with solutions to filling the need. Lynne <br /> Waterman, Veronica Warden and Gail Wilson volunteered to be on a subcommittee to <br /> investigate. Cathy Taylor said she is willing to come back to a future meeting to further <br /> discuss and solidify a plan. <br /> The Director noted she has received letters from two people who are interested in <br /> becoming members of the Human Services Committee. It was determined there were no <br /> vacancies on the committee at this time. Membership is 7 members. <br /> Update on the Mashpee Substance Use Task Force <br /> The Director reported on.the Substance Use Task Force Budget. She Noted $90.17 was <br /> spent on food for the Drop-In Night. She stated the Task Force is planning a marketing <br /> campaign. They are planning to run radio ads, 15 second ads, 15 times on two stations <br /> (Cape Country and The Q) the day before Drop-In Night. She said they are also planning <br /> to run a print ad in the Mashpee Enterprise that will reach Bourne, Sandwich and <br /> Falmouth which will cost up to $350. The remainder of the money is proposed to be used <br /> for Narcan. <br /> Motion: Frank Fantasia moved $1350 for the radio acts, seconded by Lynne <br /> Waterman. There was a brief discussion and the Director noted there is a <br /> subcommittee of the Task Force working on this issue. Vote 7-0 unanimous <br /> Motion: Frank Fantasia moved up to $350 for the print ad. Veronica Warden <br /> seconded the motion. Vote unanimous 7-0 <br /> The Director announced that the Mashpee Substance Use Task Force will be working <br /> with the Mashpee Chamber of Commerce to sponsor a forum around Opioid Use in the <br /> Workplace. The event will be on December G and have two attorneys specializing in this <br /> topic present,they usually charge $4,000 and are only requesting $500 for travel <br /> expenses. This will be advertised to the other chambers and open to the public. There <br /> will be a panel of speakers in recovery, resources and Narcan training. The Chamber is <br /> soliciting local donations for the event. This will be held at the New Seabury Country <br /> Club from 5:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m . <br /> Human Services Contract Funding <br /> The Director noted for the Fiscal Year 2019 Human Services budget, they received a new <br /> request from Mashpce Village. The Chair suggested waiting until the next meeting to <br /> discuss the contracts until we have the budget meeting. Ebony Steele explained Mashpee <br /> Village has a relationship with the Boys and Girls Club and the Mashpee Village's <br /> budget has been reduced. The cost of each child is $100 and the grant requested is <br /> $2,000 which will be matched by Mashpee Village. <br />
