Regarding educating the public, Selectman
Richardson had put Mr. Talbot in touch with the station manager at Mashpee TV. In reference to
the chart highlighting Cape towns with fertilizer bylaws, Mr. Talbot suggested working on a
shared education program with other communities and planned to contact the Cape Cod
Landscape Association (COLA) in order to acquire membership lists to communicate the new
bylaws. Referencing the Nantucket brochure, Mr. Talbot inquired whether Mashpee might
develop a similar brochure or insert that could be distributed with the tax bill. Mr. McManus
suggested notifying residents where they would be able to pick up a brochure. Selectman
Cahalane suggested that Human Services was developing a rack card and Mr. McManus
indicated that he would follow up for contact information. Mr. Talbot planned to contact
Falmouth to learn about their education plans. Mr. McManus stated that he would incorporate
education about the bylaw when he presents to various associations throughout Mashpee. There
was discussion about reaching out to the condo associations. Mr. Talbot expressed interest in
developing a PowerPoint presentation. Mr. Talbot also suggested that as applications were
received by ConsCom regarding lawns, they could then be advised of the bylaw as well as
incorporating it as a condition in their permit.
OLD BUSINESS
Combine Water -Sewer
No update
Town -Wide Stormwater Management Plan
No update
Land Steward Program
Americorps volunteers were expected for an April b & 7 walk of the Santuit, Mashpee and
Quashnet River areas in order to check for any herring impediments.
