Town of Mashpee <br />16 Great Neck Road North <br />Mashpee, Massachusetts 02649 <br />HUMAN SERVICES COMMITTEE <br />Thursday, March 19, 2015 - 2:00 PM <br />Mashpee Town Hall — Ockway Meeting Room 2 <br />Committee Members Present: <br />Ruth Elias, Chairman <br />Elinor Glener, Clerk <br />John Cahalane <br />Kathy Mohler -Facia <br />Mary Scanlan <br />Veronica Warden (3 PM) <br />Lynne Waterman <br />Members Absent: Also Present: <br />Mary Bradbury Gail Wilson, Director of Human Services <br />Janice Walford, Vice Chairman <br />CALL TO ORDER - Chairman Ruth Elias called the meeting to order at 2:00 PM. <br />PUBLIC COMMENTS -- None. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />• Review of Minutes from January 15, 2015 <br />Elinor Glener made a motion that the minutes from the 1115115 Human Services Committee meeting <br />be approved as presented. Kathy Mohler -Faris seconded the motion. The motion was approved. <br />• Review of Minutes from February 26, 2015 <br />Two corrections were made to the minutes as presented: (1) page 2, paragraph 1: Mature Workers <br />Program does NOT offer mileage reimbursement. (2) page 2, Human Services Volunteers was <br />changed to read: "Human Services Assistants: Gail Wilson reported that she now has three seniors <br />who are assisting in the Human Services office as part of the Senior Property Tax Work -Off <br />program." <br />John Cahalane made a motion that the minutes from the 2126115 Human Services Committee <br />meeting be approved as corrected. Lynne Waterman seconded the motion. The motion was <br />approved. <br />John Cahalane made a motion to add to the agenda a discussion about the volunteer program in <br />Falmouth. Lynne Waterman seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved. <br />Mary Scanlan spoke about a volunteer program during her tenure as Human Services Coordinator in <br />Falmouth, whereby all volunteers were placed on a special list, the name of which she could not <br />recall. The names on the list were officially on the Town List and were covered by the Town's <br />insurance. i�/1,. ,Scanlan wondered whether some similar arrangement might apply in Mashpee. The <br />arrangement. rptects the Town, as well as the volunteers. Kathy Mohler-Faria agreed to look into <br />the details ofihe arrangement in Falmouth. Lynne Waterman added that any concerns regarding <br />RSVP or Mature Workers Program volunteers working in Mashpee are the primary concern of their <br />agency, with M?shpee as the secondary responsible agency.
