■
PLANNING BOARD MINUTES t 5.2-64 Cont Id Page 3
v e gone to abuttors according to the general laws ,
Mr. Dubin asked if in the past lave3',people on the road petitioned for
the taking of the road,
Mr. Murphy said in 1981, but owners on more than half of frontage on the
road are summer residents , most year round residents live off of Hooppole
Rd. and not on it. The by-law doesn't allow gess residents to initiate
the process , Once the process is initiated, the town can see who would
benefit and thea the town could assess hose who do benefit.
Mr. Dubin asked how much the road c orruction would cost.
Mr. Murphy said they were requesting $60,000. He said the street super
intendent estimated it would cost $115,000 but was passible to do it for
$60,000, but not in accordance with subdivision standards of the Planning
and.
Mr. Marsters asked what would the taking cost
. Murphy said there would be notc st to the town to take it . He said
the Finance Committee may not agree for the funds f'or- it. but it was
important to take the road to establish the process of taking private
y
roads ,
Mr. Marsters asked the Street Superintend nt, Ernie Virgilip, to explain
the difference in construction according to thetwo prices .
Mr. Virgilio said 115,000 was the original estimate and would give the
road. more drainage , more surface and more excavation and grading. With
$60,000 they would decrease the excavation and drainage but give sub
stantial surface , After it's dome he can look at maintenance yprogram
to keep it up,
The Board took this article under advisement and would have a recommen-
dation at town meeting,
Petitioners Todd & Jill Ackerman
Submitted by: Alam Ki
