Mr. Hanks reminded Mr. Ellis that there are two derelict boats at the Great River
ramp that need to be removed.
County.Dredge dvisoU..Committee—_Mr. Taylor
Mr. Taylor reported they have not had another meeting} however we had enough
money to pay for the dredging we did this spring.
11r. Hags reported that because the wording was wrong as we talked about last
month, we indefinitely postponed the Town Meeting article to fund dredging the Mashp ee
River and the maintenance dredging program because that would have taken all of our
money and put it in dredging alone. He went on to say that soon he would be writing
another letter to the Board of Selectmen asking that they put ars article in the October
Warrant foran amount of money, Hopefully, by October we will have some insight on
how much the dredging of the Mashpee River will east.
Watenyays By-laws and Regulations—fir. Hanks
Mr. Hanks stated that he and Mr. Ellis along with BobWhritenour met with Jack
Shepard and Dick Murray to discuss two problems relating to fresh water concerns. one
i s the fact that sornebo dy contested our b an on the hours of et skis, which i s in Mashp ee
Takeby Lake. Town Council cane through with a letter in essence saying we had no
jurisdiction which is counter to their opinion that we got in 1995 that intimated that we
might be able to regulate, In the interim, Mr. vhritenour has written a letter to the
complainers saying that the by-laws are no good, which is not true, We have a severability
clause that says if any one part of this if found to be no good, the rest of it is intact. Soa
except for the question of operating hours, everything else is intact as of right now. flick
Hurray supported that, in effect saying to enforce them. They have been approved. If
you lose one every now and then, so be it. What carne out of that discussion was Vick
11urra said that one thing to consider was taking the by-laws, looking them over and
y
adapting them to a set of State regulations for the pond, Mir, Hanks went on to say than
he culled out all of the saltwater related stuff and sent him an a-mail.
Last month, Mr. Hanks said there seemed to be a paragraph 170, Section (c)
missing that had been recommended by Council. In reviewing this in detail, Mr. Hanks
said he found out that the paragraph they recommended was not put in exactly, however,
in paragraph 173(b), Mr. Hanks merged what used to be the old byla about fining with
some of the words from the letter. So, we have to see if paragraph 1 7 3(b) does achieve
what the Town Council had recommended. The next step in this is to see what Colonel
Murray comes up with and what he sends back to us. Mr. Hanks said the basic thing he
wants to accomplish is get the schedule of fees set forth so that Mr. Ellis has that to refer
to.
Mr, Ellis raised the question if it was legal to tow more than one water skier.
4
