MASHPEE CONSERVATION COMMISSION <br /> Minutes of July 8, 2004 <br /> Public Hearing <br /> Mash pee 'own Heil Meeting Room 'I <br /> Commissioners present: Jack Fitzsimmons, Chairman, Michael Talbot, Vice Chairman, Leonard <br /> Pinaud, Clerk, Lloyd Allen, Jeffrey Dross and Ralph Shaw. <br /> Staff present: Robert Sherman,,Agent, and Frances Wise, hoard secretary. <br /> .lack Fitzsimmons, Chairman, called the meeting to order at 6:55 p.m., <br /> Public Comment: None. <br /> Non-Hearing Agenda <br /> Old Business: <br /> 1. October Town Meeting --Articles. Bob is re-submitting the article that we are sponsoring upgrading <br /> the position of the Herring Warden. He thinks it oils for a fair salary. Chuck Green is in favor of it., <br /> 2. Assistant Conservation Agent Search. Bob said we have had about 30 applications. Bob, Pauline <br /> and Joyce Mason have been screening them. He recommended that he, Pauline and Aqua,who once <br /> ran a large Personnel Department, select the top 10 applicants. And since the person finally selected <br /> might become the replacement for Bob, he thought the whole Board might like to interview them. It was <br /> agreed that Bob world suggest this to Personnel. <br /> Jack asked for clarification on the following. When the Agent is on vacation or absent for any reason, <br /> does the Board of Selectmen have to approve the person who replaces hire on an acting basis. Bob said <br /> yes. <br /> . Digital camera. Bob said he has dome extensive research on the internet and none of the websites <br /> can better his recommendation made at the last meeting. It velli be about$600. Bob will contribute a 128 <br /> megabyte memory stick and a carrying case. <br /> 4. Emergency Certificate—Bandy Beach. Bob said at the western end of the parking lot they had to put <br /> in some temporary five-gallon drums filled with cement to hold up signs,which people Knock over to drive <br /> over.the dune. This is also a public health hazard because cars can run into children, and Bob issued <br /> an emergency certificate at the request of the Police Department. This required ratification by the Board. <br /> Motion made, seconded and unanimously carried to approve the emengency certificate for Bandy Beach. <br /> i <br /> New v Bursiness: None. <br /> Hearina Agenda <br /> 7:00p.nn.�" *g ;rn., Babette .-Liebman, Summer ea Road (continued from6/10/04). Bob said they <br /> j have requested a continuance,which he thinks is merited. <br /> Motion rade, seconded and unanimously carried to grant a continuance to July at 7:35 p.m., at the <br /> request of the applicant. <br />
