Mr. Harrington felt that things went very well.
Ms. Grady asked for a brief synopsis of the meeting.
Mr. Harrington stated that what he and Mr. Ayers had met with the
selectmen to discuss the program itself. Thea after they did that they
requested some more information, Mr. Ayers had sent therm a letter in
early September basically answering their request for ars audit regarding
the current status of the money. That las presented to them. He basically
went to them as a followâ–º up to that letter because he had not heard a
response. The board of health and Mr. Ayers had provided there with the
income levels and the status of the money, He went to find out if they had
any questions, Two of the things they voiced concerns over were the
income levels, could the board of health change the income levels rather
than stating the straight $150,000.00? Was there a way to target more low
to moderate-income people? Also, just basically to answer their
questions.
Mr. Santos felt that that was pretty much it. Mr, Harrington brought up a
very good point. He wanted to show up at that meeting with the
selectmen so that it wasn't postponed again for some stupid reason.
IVIS. Warden added that they could let the townspeople make the decision.
Mr, Harrington Mated that the board had the ability to make any of these
changes such as a priority list and some ranking whether it is for public
health or environmentally sensitive areas. Again, they discussed the
eligibility issue. He felt that their major points were about eligibility and
income levels. night now with a cap of $150,000.00 only four of the
property owners of the 64 people who had been serviced by the loan
program had been over$100,000.00.
Ms. rady's question was whether anybody had been turned away. 3
Mr. Harrington responded that no one had been turned away to the best of
his knowledge. His point to them was did they want to re-write the entire
program for four people for the last four years of program use. He didn't
see that as being a real sticking point.
IVIS. Grady felt that if people were missing out because of other people
getting this within the higher income brackets, She could understand the
need for a change,
Mr. Harrington agreed and added that he had told them that that priority
list and this other environmentally sensitive ranking was actually
1
