The Commission will work with towns. county go fern ment, businesses, and nonprofit <br /> up <br /> organizations as a technical resource for economic development planning,g, including the Local <br /> Comprehensive Puns (L PA. The Economic Development Council will work with businesses <br /> and local goven ent on econoric development projects and grants funding for them. <br /> N. The Commission and Economic Development Council will sponsor conferences and <br /> workshops on the Cape Cod economy and strategies for improving it. <br /> o. The Economic Development Council will support the efforts of the business sector and <br /> educational and t-aining institutions to prepare local workers for and refer therm to new job <br /> opportunities with special attention to disabled, elderly% minorities, and unemployed and <br /> underemployed persons. The Economic Development Council will provide technical assistance <br /> and training services for businesses and entrepreneurs. <br /> P. The Commission and Economic Development Council wM support the development o <br /> expanded higher educational, specifically a four-year college/graduate school, and vocational <br /> progr ras on Cape Cod in order to enhance opportunites and upgrade job skills. <br /> S <br /> Q. The Economic Development Council will assist tourns in identifying local econommic <br /> development needs and in coordinating local private sector datives. <br /> 1 <br /> Recommended Town Actions: <br /> L Town gover=ents, in preparing Local Comprehensive Plans (LCP), should meet with <br /> businesses and business organizations, to ascertain economic development needs in the <br /> community. <br /> B. Focal Comprehensive Plans should identify areas for economic growth in town, as well as <br /> appropriate infrastructure needs. 'Foams should review and/or streamline zoning and <br /> permitting processes to encourage diverse and desirable economic development. <br /> C. Town governments should work with the private sector on initiatives to market the town for <br /> business and tourist development. This could include town financial support for marketing. <br /> D. Town governments should consider offering i ncenti es to promote desired economic <br /> development in their communities, including Economic Opportunity Areas and similar <br /> strategies. <br /> .
