Minutes of Mashpee Historical Co=ission July 23 , 1997 <br /> Present: Rosemary Burns , Joanne Ferragamo, Frank Hicks , James <br /> Moroney, Ann Whitlow and guest Paul Giambarro. <br /> Minutes of previous meeting were corrected as follows : Minutes <br /> of April 16, 1997 , were available. 'age 2 , name is Mabel Avant. <br /> BUDGET: All but $25 1996-1997 was spent. 1998 budget i $60000 <br /> Joanne asked for sugge-stions for priority expenditures . Ann <br /> spoke about computer expenses for programs , Internet etc. � <br /> Ann and Jim will serge as a budget sub-committee. <br /> Ann reported on SON of MA H EE exhibit, which was very well <br /> received. Deborah - of Heritage Cape Cod said it was "Superb. " <br /> Ann has written thank you notes for those who participated. <br /> Invitations ready to go for the Popponesset exhibit. Ann is <br /> to contact the Mconalds at The Tea shoppe re additional refresh- <br /> ments , which may be necessary, as there appears to be a great <br /> deal of interest in the exhibit. Jeanne DeClerk will again be <br /> in charge of refreshments. <br /> Thank you notes were received from Ellie Hatcher, Josephine Mills. <br /> Ann will ask Ray Martini to check out the font door, which, needs <br /> adjustment for wheelchair access. <br /> Rosemary reported on a meeting with Jessica Rowraft of Massachu- <br /> setts Historical Commission. and Sarah Ku Jeff of Cape Cod <br /> Commission concerning the inventory of old buildings in Mashpee. <br /> Rosemary will supply them with her research done to date, and work <br /> closely on the projects. <br /> Joanne reported on a meeting -with "Morning Star, " a descendant of <br /> Nathan S. Focknet. "Morning Start has many Mashpee photo- <br /> graphs from her mother' s collection, which she will share with us. <br /> Joanne will send Mashpee- military history to her from our files. <br /> Materials have been received from Hazel Oakley about adult zoning <br /> and commercial zoning, which will be discussed at next month <br /> meeting, along with discussion about the establishment of an <br /> historic district. <br /> The donation of watercolors by Mr. Berliner were accepted. A large <br /> copy of the 1858 map was donated by Rosemary Burns and accepted. <br /> Paul_ Giambarro will send a- letter to the selectmen, expressing an <br /> interest in volunteering time at the Archives. <br /> Ren Porter donated a stone believed found at the time of the con- <br /> struction near the Old Customs House. More information will be <br /> requested. <br /> A discussion of goals for 1997-1998 followed.
