responded. A short discussion ensured and the board members agreed that Mrs. Botsford should not be
dealing with someone who is acting this way. The chairperson stated not to have any more
conversations with this person. It was suggested that a certified letter, return receipt requested, be
mailed to the executive director at Barnstable Housing Authority. Mrs. Botsford stated that she would do
so and keep the board updated.
Board v n : Mrs. Botsford informed the board that ads have been placed and posted to fill the board
vacancy. Interested applicants can submit a letter to the housing authority by 24, 2006.
OTHER BUSINESS:
CPA (Community Preservation.tion.Act) Update r_ep rt from liaison: Discussed earlier.
COMMUNICATIONS/CORRESPONDENCE: We received the annual letter from the Department of
Labor indicating that the maintenance person rate has been increased to $17.83. This amount is not
optional, so we will see that our budget will be over-run in this line item (4410) from now through'the
end of the fiscal year. A copy of their letter was provided to all members of the board. Mrs. Botsford
stated that it was interesting to note that since 2001 maintenance salaries have increased by more than
4%, while administrative staff has ndt received any pay increases.
We received a letter from 3oyce Mason in response to my letter inquiring about the county affordable
housing funds. She stated that the torn is planning on establishing the Mashpee Affordable Housing
Trust(same name as our non-profit) and the county funds will transfer to there. A copy of her Fetter was
provided to all members of the board.
The next regular meeting will be Thursday, May 11, 2006 at : o PM.
A motion was made by Mr. Halpern and seconded by Mr, LaPode to adjourn. The motion
carried. The meeting was adjourned at 6:42 P.M.
Rely brnitt
7t
a Botsford, retary
llfxecutive Di r
Attachment A:
Executive irectorfs Report
For the month of march 2006
Program update:
Holme er Villa 667: We had all rents paid in full for March. we had one new tenant move into
Horneyer pillage in March so we were at full occupancy, but only for 10 days. A resident Inas passed
away. I am in the process of selecting a new tenant for the unit who should be moving in sometime in
late April or early May. This makes 6 unit turn-overs for this fiscal year, for which we only budgeted for
.. Another reminder to please be prepared for over-runs in contract costs (account # 4430),
extraordinary maintenance (account # 6510), and probably maintenance materials (account #4420), as
well. It redly has been a hinge year for unit-turnovers for us.
BECM.,Access o : we had all rents paid in full in March other than the tenant that moved out on
March 14. The unit she moved out of has been inspected and there is going to be quite a bit of work to
do to get it ready for the new tenant. The tenant had an unauthorized dog and 2 cats and here is pet
urine in all of the carpeting. once the carpets are pulled up (after the unit is painted), we will need to
see what the extent of the damage to the under-layment is. I have started the process of selecting a
new tenant for the unit who hopefully will be able to move in sometime in May.
Page f4
