Fire Station Building Committee Minutes 2 October 19, 1998 FUZE-STAIJON f!RQJECT-UPD Fire Chief,George Baker indicated that his priorities in connection with the final design program for the renovation of the Mashpee Fire&Rescue Station are to rehab the existing apparatus bay, construct an additional apparatus bay, and incorporate adequate square footage for the general operations center of the building. Discussion followed with regards to the initial architectural selection process. It was noted that previous candidates that were not rejected by the committee can be considered as finalists for the final design program. After conducting due diligence, it is the consensus of the committee to begin a new bid process for professional architectural and design services. Town Counsel has provided the opinion that the present contract with Donham Sweeney can be suspended or terminated. Mrs. Mason will provide specifications to the committee relative to exact budgetary figures available for the architectural design progrann. It was noted that I onh rn & Sweeney submitted an invoice in the amount of $19,,000 for design schematics representing 95%build. There is approximately $40,000in the design account appropriated at Town Meeting. Kopel an and Paige is presently investigating all payment requisitions. Motion made by Dr. Petti to recommend to the Board of Selectmen that the contract between the Town and Donham & Sweeney,Inc. be terminated. The Board of Selectmen will be requested to rebid for professional Architectural and Design Services for the renovation f the 1 ashpee Fire& Rescue Station. Motion seconded by Mrs. Mason. YME.: Unanimous. 4-0. Mr. Vaccaro was authorized to draft a memo to the Selectmen on behalf of the committee, and attend the Selectmen's meeting of November 2, 1998 t represent the committee to further review recommendations pertaining to the above notion to seek additional design services.
