Fire Station Building Committee <br /> Minutes <br /> March 71, 2000 <br /> Due Dili _ : <br /> Reference check on Gary Newell. proved favorable although it is evident <br /> he would leave before a job is finished. The Committee agreed to make <br /> additional review of his references for the next scheduled meeting. <br /> Jim Byrne,the former Clerk of the Works for the Mashpee High School <br /> project. now a self employed consultant, indicated that he interviewed <br /> 1-. Newell, and was not impressed with his qualifications. It was noted <br /> that the availability of perspective candidates for this type ofo -Iti n i <br /> not as strong as in.previous years. <br /> The Committee agreed to discuss with Mr. Byrne, the use of his firm on <br /> a per diem basis to examine important phases in the construction project <br /> on behalf of the Town. It was noted that many firefighters also have <br /> expertise in the area of electrical, plumbing and fire protection to assist <br /> with the general project review. <br /> The Building Inspector will also be consulted with respect to utilizing the <br /> services of the Town for daily inspections to oversee the project in-lieu of <br /> Clerk of the Works. Overtime initiatives were considered. The Town <br /> Accountant will be requested to render an opinfon with.respect to this <br /> regard.
