The chief reported he had found it necessa'ry to make
decision and approve a charge order. There seems to be a
discrepancy between the civil and building plans. The civil
plan having been prepared by the civil engineer; the building
plan by the architect. He made reference to the tree located
next to the trailer; the architect ' s plan shows it is to remain
undisturbed, the cavil plan indicates the proposed parking lot
area encroaches the tree by approximately eight inches.
When confronted with the decision as to whether or not the
tree should be removed at this point, the chief opted to have the
tree boxed-in for protection until such time as a determination
is made by the DPW Director when ready to asphalt.
with regard to the fire hydrant, the chief reported that
six feet of pipe has been added, as specified in the contract.
He further explained that it has been -necessary to rove the water
main. He also made reference to the actual location of said
hydrant (which is not located as shown on the plan, but rather
being located within the proposed driveway area) .
The Chief explained these changes/decisions were made at the
Job Meeting, with Mrs.. 'Mason in attendance. The cost of a change
order is between $21000 - 00-$3, 000 . 00 . A business decision was
made to physically move the connection on the water main in order
to be in compliance with the contract, and at some later date
request the civil plan be amended to reflect the actual location
of the parking lot /hydrant.
There was brief discussion regarding the amount of funds
available and the possibility of requesting additional monies
from the Board of Selectmen at some point in order to complete
this project.
Next Scheduled Meeting
Mrs. Mason reported the next meeting for this Committee has
been scheduled for Thursday, May 18th at 10 : 00 a.m. , in the
Trailer.
George Wezniak informed the Members he will not be available
to attend meetings scheduled. between May 30th thro gh June 17th.
Mrs. Mason suggested meetings be scheduled on a regular
basis, every two-weeks, for the convenience of the Committee
Members.
The chief suggested the Building committee meet at some
point after the Job Meetings which are scheduled for even other
Thursday at 10 : 00 a.m. It was agreed that the Building committee
would meet on the same day as the Job Meeting, 1: 00 p.m. , at the
Fire Station site,
-4-
