These bids will be <br /> opened on Friday, April 25, 1997 at :00 p.m. in the office 'the <br /> Superintendent. <br /> 7.12 Memorial Day Program - Mgy 25, 1997, 2:00 p.m. - Dr. I eMoura <br /> said he has discussed this program with Bob Sullivan. Mr. Sullivan <br /> asked permission to have a memorial plaque placed on school property, <br /> preferably at the high school. Dr. 1eMoura had suggested a location <br /> that is equidistant between the two flagpoles. Mrs. Lynch expressed <br /> concern over the cost of the plague. Dr. DeMoura said a figure of$200 <br /> had leen discussed. Mrs. Lynch then asked 'Where the money would <br /> come from? Dr. I eMoura said he would have to find it in the budget <br /> somewhere. <br /> Motion made by Mrs. Lynch, seconded by Mrs. Mills, to approve a <br /> memorial plaque not to exceed $250-00 in cost. <br /> NOTE: Unanimous <br /> DTIII, 8.1 Renaming the High School T IVIS. Macdonald - Motion made by Ms. <br /> Specifically Macdonald, seconded by Mrs. Lynch, to rename.the high school from <br /> Assigned/ "Mashpee High School' to `lashp ee Junior Senior High School." <br /> Unfinished Ms. Macdonald explained her concerns stating.t.h t when the high school <br /> Business was initially proposed at Town Meeting, the taxpayers appropriated <br /> money a few years ago, they were told that junior high school students <br /> were going to a junior/senior high school. Dr. DeMoura said the state <br /> lased their funding of the high school on it being rare a "high <br /> school" not a "junior high school." IVIS. Macdonald said, "'The Junior high <br /> school kids meed an identity." <br /> A Student Council Advisory Committee member said a survey was taken <br /> among the Grade 7, 8 and 9 students. The results of that survey <br /> indicated that those students would prefer to keep the name "1ashpee <br /> High School" as i . <br />
