i
F
requirements listed in the Technical Requirements for Emergency
Operating -centers are met and fixtures non-essential to the
operation can be. quickly and easily removed from the daily -
occupancy of the space.
Taking this one step at a time, the 14 day fuel supply. We have
two estimates - one is .for three 1,000 gallon propane tanks
which total approximately $7j'217, 000,
The thought crossed ray mind, if we want to pursue it, to add one
more 1,000 gallon tank and pipe it into the main heating system
as - a back-up tank. By adding four 1,000 gallon tanks along
with the additional pip-gi go. that total is approximately $9,636 . 00.
In order for us to get reimbursed for any money under the grant,
e are going to have to put in a backup fuel system.
Chairman stated that as he understands i t, i ire don' t do this ,
than we don' t .get the money. selectman Garland stated that was
correct and the amount we' re talking about is approximately
, 00 . o8
Chairman stated that he felt that we should go out for bid as
soon as possible and that an article reflecting the ambunt
necessary be submitted to a special Town Meeting.
Selectman Thomas asked .i f the extension time was long enough.
Selectman Garland stated yes and if necessary, we can extend it
again as long as we are showing some kind of forward movement.
Chairman felt we should. go out for bid on the tanks as soon as
possible. Hoard concurred.
Chairman requested that a memo be sent to Curtis Frye , civil
Defense Director, requesting that he check with Mr. McBride
of the Liddle School, as to how much back-up reserve fuel they
have for their generator- and also to do whatever is necessary to
have the school designated the official Emergency Shelter for the
Town of Mashpee, and advise the Board.
1. Selectman Garland spore on outstanding items regarding the Police/
`ire station construction contract@
He first stated, that the 'Board agreed with Town counsel' s advice,
to release $500 . 00 to Mechanical systems Incorporated for the
HI , there seemed to be a foul -up with the architecture. This
has been straighten out and they are entitled to the $500 . 00 .
voucher should be prepared to pay them.
Regarding the asphalt walks , they should be repaved or whatever and
limes painted to keep people from driving on thea. There is a spot
in front of the Eire station that has been roughed up by someone
driving on it. They are going to repair that and one- or two minor
spots. By in large, Steve weaver says there - is nothing wrong and
the deterioration that they are talking about is because of cars
parking; gasoline dripping and also said that realistically, the
asphalt should . not have been sealed. You only seal -when them is
a clay Haase underneath to prevent water from leaking through to
the clay.
-6-
