Garland suggested Sam Rev. <br /> The Selectmen felt letters should go to those previously mentioned, to <br /> see if they would be interested in serving <br /> John Fitzgerald <br /> Walter Jacobson <br /> Joe Borowski <br /> Sam Rey <br /> While on the subject -f new buildings, Sel.- Thomas asked what about <br /> the two fire sub-stations that had been considered previously. There <br /> had been two thoughts : , l should be near the center - or down on Rt. <br /> #130; the other to get land back from New S eaburr for. that purpose. <br /> The Executive Secretary stated he would like to see the sane station <br /> built in both Dlaces, Regarding the New Seabur r land, Mr. Garland <br /> stated surveying is going o there now, but he is not sure why, He <br /> will ask Chris Burden, Exec. Secretary felt it was worth ursueing; <br /> Sel. Thomas stated she was Fall for it" . Chm. Garland- said he felt <br /> New Seabur r was concerned about the apearanc .of a possible. station. <br /> but. he thought there would be no objections to a. metal building with <br /> a suitable facade. v <br /> J 11 Firefighter' s Grievance Was the' last matter the Exec. Secretary had to <br /> discuss with the Board. He pointed out that, in order to conform to <br /> the contract requirements, this Board must respond promptly- will <br /> have to act at tomorrow' s meeting, chr . Garland questioned whir this is <br /> being brought up now - only about a month before the enol of thecon- <br /> tract. No one was sure but it was pointed out that negotiations <br /> are presently underway on the neer contract, and this matter would have <br /> to be clarified anyway. The Exec. Secretary reported that theAssocia- <br /> tion is looking for retroactive Pair on the holiday issue. Sel. Thomas <br /> stated -that to do that would be a nightmare in the area ob bookkeeping. <br /> But she continued, she felt they were entitled to be paid, if they had <br /> worked. The Exec. Secretary reported that the Firefighters don' t. want <br /> to negotiate with the Personnel- Board; t o -_the;-" 1-fis <br /> acting as the Agent for the Selectmen, the Selectmen Mill have a good <br /> deal of influence on the negotiations, Both Selectmen expressed the <br /> feeling that -they were in support of the firefighters ' position, and <br /> Sel. Thomas asked if it would, be appropriate to notify the Personnel <br /> Board of their feelings. . The Exec. Secretary felt it would be very <br /> - <br /> appropriate, and stated he would prepare a letter to that effect. How- <br /> ever, Chm. Garland felt that since the contract had been interpreted <br /> as it had for the past two gears ,• there should be no retroactive par. <br /> Selectmen' s conc rns <br /> l Sel.
