Thomas read Town Counsel ' s letter, which hal just been handed to her (see attached) , .indicating that, he did not feel that the aff-ida- vits were satisfactory, either. Mr. Lawrence reiterated that the affidavits do not show that anyone was assigned the responsibility of stopping incoming vehicles . While on this subject, Town Counsel reported on recent activity- in a case the Town has brought against an employee of Mr. I ePaul ' s , Wilbur Oakley. Mr. Reardon reported that the .jud e'=hard charged Wilbur Oakley with contempt; he is required to appear before hire next Wednesday* The summons will be delivered by the Police Department, Town Counsel review- ed the case to date. Mr. Oakley had been ordered to pay the Town of Mshpee $500 , and cover the stump dump he had started. He had pad the Town $400, but the deadline had passed for the balance. He will also have to explain why the dump had not been covered, but presumably the fact that the around has been frozen may have some effect on that acti- . ity. At that point, Mr, Lawrence informed Mr. Reardon that -the 10had been received last yesterday, Town Counsel said that all that remains to conclude this case is for the cutup to be covered, and if it cannot be at this time, Mr. Oakley should communicate that fact to the Town and the Court. el. O 'Connell moved that Town Counsel be asked to pursue the matter of the affidavits with the Landfill Contractor, A vote . i Sel , Thomas announced that the Quaker- Run Hearing would resum tomorrow in the Cafeteria. Charles Buckingham of the Board of Health reported that a drum had been- found alone the road, and tests showed that it contained kerosine, although there were only a few drops left in the drum. when a resident discovered the dru, he reported it to the police, but got no response from therm. This was in the area .of Johns Pond Estates . If investigations are not followed through, no one- will know if the contents of these-- receptacles are hazardous f and how much they may contain. As the Hazardous Waste Representative for Mashpee , Mr. Buckingham announced that there would be an informat9ional meeting on this subject in Barnstable on February 5 ., He hopes our Police Department will send representati'ves . He also suggested that the Highway Dept. should send a representative, as there are times when they will be involved in the handling of these matters. Adjourned at 2 : 55.
