The n,fo rzta ion relates t 10 a1 <br /> funds provided by. a Bond Issue for the State Aid Highway and Bikeway <br /> Programs, for. the construction of salt storage sheds., and a state- <br /> ment regarding the new program for "economic development" highways. <br /> S SATE AID HIGHWAY FUNDS <br /> Governor Edward J. King has s i geed into law Chapter 7 8 2 of the, Acts <br /> of 19 81 4P This Act provides a Transportation Development and I'mprrove- <br /> me t Program for the Commonwealth. Section 1 d of this Act- makes <br /> available "a sura not less than twenty-five 111ion dollars ($25 , 000 , 000 . <br /> for projects. for construction of town and county ways under subdivision <br /> (a) of clause - of section thirty-four of chapter ninety of the <br /> General Laws" . <br /> With this authori ati.on, -the Department will be able to increaseFund- <br /> ing of the State Aid Highway Program during the 1982 and 1983 fiscal <br /> years . The amount of funds to be made available to your Community for <br /> each of the is'Gal Years (1982 and 1983) is $30,587 .00 . <br /> These funds may be used for construction, reconstruction and improve- <br /> ment projects on all approved public ways which qualify under the State <br /> Aid Highway guidelines adopted by the Publid Works Commission. This <br /> Means the funds may be allocated to rdy pr. 3 ets , such as re ufac- <br /> ing and related work (the minimum for resurfacing shall- be a 3/4" course <br /> with a continuous length of 500 ' ) , and other work incidental to the <br /> above, such a..s prelir i ar engineering including State Aid/Consultant <br /> Design Agreements-, right=of-way acquisition, shoulders , side road <br /> approaches, Landscaping and tree planting, roadside drainage, structures <br /> (including bridges) , sidewalks, traffic control and service facilities, <br /> street lighting .(excluding operating costs) , traffic safety devices , <br /> unusual or disaster roadway operations , and for such other purposes as <br /> the Department may spec-ifically authorize . <br /> This allocation of funds will pr vide one hundred percent 100 reim- <br /> bursement ent of the costs for those projects which meet Department <br /> standards and are located on the State Aid Primary System, Lesser <br /> improvements and� projects on all other local roads will be reimbursed <br /> a, the seventy-five. percent (75%) level , with the balance to b . <br /> provided by the' munic ipa 1 i ty. <br /> L <br />
