Jean Thomas, Chairperson
Board of Selectmen /PO -
Ton of Mape .
P.O. Box 1108
<
Mashpee, Massachusetts 049 - w=
.a
Dear Mrs. Thomas
As you are aware, this firm' s current willing rate for the Town of
ashpee is seventy Dollars $7 per hour. while this rate is sub-
stantially lower than the billing rate for comparable work and effort in
the private sector, like many other. firm's, a reduced rate for the public
sector has been our practice.
Our billing rate has remained at $70 per hour for quite some time,
even though we, ourselves, have experienced severe inflationary pressures
and huge increases. in such office expenses as rent, utilities, insurance,
clerical, and the various other overhead costs attached to maintaining a
first-rate labor law practice. It has now reached . point where, in
order to continue the high level o.1 professional services which you
require and should expect, we can no longer realistically maintain the
$7o per hour rate. Therefore, in order net to sacrifice the duality of
our services, effective for all work performed on and after January 1 ,
1983 , our rate will be increased to Eighty Dollars per hour.
We recognize the various budgetary restrictions under which you
operate, and we have deferred this nate increase as long as we possibly
could. We hope that you appreciate and understand the necessity for
this modest increase and look forward to continuing our relationship and
providing you with the highest level of professional services, as we
have done in the past.
Ver truly ours
Mi ael C. Gilman
M j c
