e BOARD OF SELECTMEN MINUTE PAGE 3. New Business (continued) At this time Selectmen reviewed the proposal submitted by the Executive Secretary as to legal services. Selectman Thomas feels everything that was covered at the meeting was in the proposal and therefore should advise the Board of Health of the process adopted. She also asked that when departments or committeess request the use of town counsel they pecif � h t expertise they-feel they will need. . Selectmen received a communication from the Suburban Coalition asking for support of an article relative .to minimum state reimbursement to cities and towns. Selectmen agreed to send a letter of support and asked than the School Committee be asked to also express their support. . The Board received a request of Vincent Lopez relative to a one month leave of absence from the Department of Public Works. Also received by the Board was letter from the DPG , Dlirctor recommending the Board approve the request. r.,; Murphy recommended the Board consider exercising one aspect of the new language which would allow Mr. Lopez to continue in the town' s medical insurance plan during the leave provided he pays in full the cost of insurance in advance, The Board agreed to grant the leave of absence and also allow Mr. Lopez to continue in the town' s medical insurance during his leave provided he pays in full the amount in advance. 7. Department of Public Health, Executive of Human Services asking that the town issue an EMS week proclamation, proclaiming the week of September 29 through October 5 EMS Week. Selectman Thomas moved to proclaim the geek of September 29 through October 5 EMS Week in Ma shpee. Selectman Hanson Seconded. All were in favor. . Selectmen reviewed a supplemental budget for the December 2 special town meeting. The budget included 7 line items four of which money is -being requested for. Also reviewed by the Board was supplemental budgets for the Department of Publ-ic Works who is lobking for increases in four accounts and the Recreation Director who is looking for an increase in one account-, Selectmen had no problem with forwarding the supplemental budget of the Selectmen to the Finance Committee. The other two departments' have already been forwarded the Board was given a copy for their information. . Selectmen were requested verbally by the Police Chief to sign='-the appointment forms of the two new police officers. Selectmen had not received any' written communication from the physicians who have completed testing of the two individuals. Selectmen deferred action until written communication is received.
