Joan Tavares-Avant called in to attend the meeting, but did not
vote on any motions.
Commissioners not Present: Joan Tavares-Avant
Rosemary moved to approve the minutes from our Meeting on May 24, 2018. The motion was
seconded by Nancy. Nancy moved to approve the minutes from our Meeting on March 2, and
the motion was seconded by Richard DeSorgher.
Richard reported that his work is continuing on researching names of Veterans of the
Revolutionary War, both Wampanoags and other Mashpee residents. He is working on a preliminary plan of the expansion of the Community Park
area and will attend Mashpee CPC meeting on August 2, 2018, to keep the CPC informed. The name of the committee is the Mashpee Community Garden
Advisory Committee (MCGAC). The committee will consist of seven members and will be
working closely with representatives from both the Mashpee Historical Commission and the
Mashpee Historic District Commission.
Richard went up to the Massachusetts State House in Boston on July 11, 2018, and
photographed and printed out the Mashpee Annual Reports which we do not have in our
records. The reports include the Annual Reports for year ending 1874, 1875, January 1876 —
January 31, 1877, Annual Report of the Selectmen and Treasurer for the year 1879-80, Annual
Report 1879, 1880-81, 1881-2; Statement of Receipts and Expenditures for years ending 2.15,
1883, and 2-15-9884; Annual Reports for 1885, 1886-1892, and the Annual Reports for 1909—
1913.
We had a visitor on July 2, 2018, Louise Hicks Wing, daughter of Frank Hicks.
