person is a roofing expert.
The other firms are more expensive .
Joel said SMMA is familiar with SG & H and they are a very
qualified firm. He is not familiar with the work of UTS for
roofing .
Paul has never heard of UTS doing roofing .
Jim Byrne said you are not comparing apples to apples when
comparing UTS to the other two firms.
Paul has used Simpson Gumertz and Heger and they do an excellent
job. The town is spending at least $500, 000 on roofing , you
don' t want them to leak.
Paul made a motion to forward to the Selectmen for their
approval a request for an extra for Chartwells ' contract
to hire a roofing engineer/inspector, not to exceed
$44 , 000 . Merry Sue seconded the motion.
Paul suggested within the next several day, Chartwell work with
SMMA to come up with a firm to recommend.
Janice said roofing was a critical discussion all along the
development of the project . The town needs an expert inspector.
Jim does not think UTS could bring anything more to the project
then what he could do, if he spent full time reviewing the
roofing installation.
As the job progresses there will be a time when there is a lot
going on, people working all over. It will bring extra security
to have someone else here inspecting the roof installation.
Joel suggested the roofing inspector be on the site more often
during the first section of roof installation to set the tone.
** All members were in favor of the motion. **
NEXT SCHEDULED MEETING IS MONDAY, OCTOBER 30TH 4:00 P.M AT THE
SITE.
Meeting adjourned at 5 : 45 p.m.
Minutes submitted by Arden R.
