5 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> June 28, 2010 <br /> Public Foran—Proposed Conversion of private to Town-owned Roads: <br /> (continued) <br /> Regarding the process,the Selectmen indicated the public forum is a <br /> method to determine the pro's'and con's of the proposed road conversions. <br /> If approved,the outcome will be determined by a vote of Town fleeting. <br /> The earliest date of the next Town Meeting is M y of 201 L <br /> When asked of the No Plow List, copies are available in the office of the <br /> Board of Selectmen and Town Manager. <br /> Pheasant Run resident asked why they are being assessed when <br /> everyone drives through Cape Drive. <br /> i <br /> Beechwood Road resident John Hartman stated that he recently moved to <br /> f lashpee. The road is in disrepair. when he called the Town with regards <br /> to the road condition,he was unaware the cost would be $11,171.00. In <br /> his opinion,the cost is quite high and he invited his neighbors to jai in to <br /> t <br /> fix the road. <br /> resident of Hemlockgive indicated the road lacks proper drainage. <br /> Vere are potholes and the road is an ice sheet "in winter. He asked if <br /> funds have been set aside from the general contractor to repair the roads. <br /> The Selectmen were unclear if the bond has been released. It was agreed <br /> the Planning Board would be consulted with respect to this regard. It was <br /> i <br /> also noted the Town would be willing to conduct road repairs if the <br /> presidents offer payment for the cost of materials. <br /> With regards to a betterment cost, it was disclosed that a resident has the <br /> option to pay the charge in full or spread the payment over 20 years. The <br /> monies are reflected on the tax bill which incurs a 5%interest fee, a figure <br /> deter-nine l by MGL for road betterments. <br /> One resident asked if there are federal grant finds available to assist with <br /> the costs associated to the conversion process. <br /> Carleton Meredith stated that he resides on a road that is in perfectly good <br /> condition. His motto is"if it isn't broke,then don't fix it''. <br />
