8
Board of Selectmen
Minutes
September 2 ,2010
NEW STN sS:
C—Request to ARply for Grant—Massachusetts EnviLonmental Trst
FY12 General Grants: (continued)
Mr. York indicated he has reviewed the technical report, and the use of
solar circulators 'i's deemed the most favorable option. The nitrogen in the
pond is also derived from road run-off, septic systems and phosphorus.
Mr. York noted the Town is working on a bylaw to control phosphorus in
fertilizer. With regards to the noted contributors, Mr. York recommended
that it ishnportant to reduce the sources.
Discussion followed with regards to the grant application. It was agreed
the Town of Mashpee shall be the designated applicant. The letter of
interest to be included in the grant application would be clear the
application is bung submitted solely by the Tom of llashpee. The
Selectmen also agreed to appoint the Chair of the EOC as the designated
pro j ect manager for said grant and its application.
Motion made by Selectman Cabalatne to appoint the Chair of the EEC
as the Project Manager for the Massachusetts Environmental Frost
grant application to monitor and report to the Board of Selectmen.
Motion seconded by Selectman Taylor.
VOTE: Unanimous. 54.
Roll Cap vote:
Selectman Cook,yes Selectman C halane,yes
Selectman Richardson,yes selectman Taylor,yes
Selectman Sherman,yes opposed, none -
The grant application must be submitted prior to October 15, 2010. The
project,if approved would allow Mshpee to become a demonstration
project for other Cape towns.
The amount requested for the grant is $100,000 over the period of 2 years;
$50,000 per circulator in Phase}I. Although the total project is estimated
to cost$500,000, the motion as approved would commit the Town to the
first phase of the grant ftmding only.
i
