16 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> December 6, 2010 <br /> Proposed Tax Rate: <br /> Jason Streebel,Director of Assessing announced the proposed tax rate of <br /> $8.37 per$1,000 valuation of property. There is no change in the recap. <br /> The CPA remamns at % and the water District also remains with no <br /> change at$0.21/$1,000 valuation. Last year the tax rate was $7.79 per <br /> $1,000 assessment. <br /> OLD BUSINESS: <br /> Do Not Plow List <br /> Catherine Laurent, Director of Public works disseminated a revised 2010 <br /> -2011 Do Not Plow list to the Board of Selectmen dated December 5, <br /> 2010, (enclosed) The roans on the previous list were 119. The current list <br /> details 80 roads. 1t was noted that 18 roads are currently being repaired <br /> and 16 rows have made no effort to contact the Town,and as a result,the <br /> roads have been on the Do Not Plow list for several years. of the sixteen <br /> roads, a public hearing was conducted last sunnier to review the potential <br /> to take Timberland Shores, Johns Pond and Cape Drive as public ways <br /> due to the poor condition of the roads and in the natter of public safety. <br /> The residents of Cape Drive initiated a.petition for the road ung. <br /> However,there has been no action from Timberland Shores or Johns <br /> Pond. Thi pw Director also stated that 8 of the Do Not Plow roads are <br /> in the Timberland Shores neighborhood and 21 are in the neighborhoods <br /> off Algongw*n Avenue and I i ig et Avenue. <br /> It is assumed that a majority of the roads on the Do Not Plow list will be <br /> removed from the list before the onset of winter. Upon review, it was <br /> agreed the Do Not Plow list would be submitted to,the Board of Selectmen <br /> by the end of September next year to promote public awareness. <br /> In concern to the above referenced neighborhoods, it was suggested that <br /> Emergency Management review the neighborhoods of Algonquin Avenue <br /> and Nim'Bret Ave in the matter of public safety. It was noted that <br /> notification hangers will be placed on doors announcing the Do Not Plow <br /> list in these neighborhoods. <br /> In the evert of a storm and required assistance,the DPW Office telephone <br /> number is 508-539-1420. The DPW also assigns a truck with plow to <br /> assist the fire apparatus in the event of an emergency situation. <br />
