r <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> September 10, 2014 <br /> LIAISON REPORT'S: <br /> cial Events: The monthly"Business After Hours" event sponsored by the <br /> Mashpee Chamber of Commerce is scheduled to be held at Cape Cod Coffee <br /> Roasters. <br /> FDIC: It was reported the pending sale of the 2.6 acre parcel on Industrial Drive <br /> did not materialize at this time. The next scheduled meeting is September 1 '. <br /> C; The Environmental Oversight Committee is working diligently to educate <br /> the public on the importance of passmng the Nitrogen Management bylaw at the <br /> October Town Meeting. <br /> Schols./Mash ee TAT: Plans are moving forward to ecce the School Channel <br /> as M shpee TV staff are working at the high school to evaluate the equipment and <br /> a <br /> programming needs. <br /> STC: It was announced that 2 vacancies exist on the Waterways Commission. <br /> Ma hee Cares: 'fhe Mashpee Cares is currently finalizing their mission and <br /> vision statements for presentation to the Board of Selectmen. <br /> CCWPC: With the passing of the Environmental,Bond bill,'funds are expected to <br /> be received to provide for the re-alignment of Wills Work Road. Additional <br /> funding is anticipated to be secured for long-terra wastewater monitoring <br /> including water quality reporting, The State is supportive and is expected to assist <br /> towns in the mitigation of funds for alternative technology methods which <br /> includes shellfish aquaculture for nitrogen removal. with regards to the TT DL <br /> compliance,the State also has the authority to credit individual towns for alternate <br /> technology and adaptive management approaches. As noted,the Section 20 <br /> Water Quality Plan submitted by the Cape Cod Commission to address excessive <br /> nitrogen from entering Cape Cod embayments is a part of the decision tool. <br /> Eligibility is guided by the 208 Plan and its existence. with regards to cost <br /> assumptions,there is a mim*mum spending floor for low interest rates including <br /> 011/o interest loans and the Mate statutc also provides for loan forgiveness up to <br /> 25%of the loan. <br /> In discussing the benefits of shellfish aquaculture, it was noted the oyster reef <br /> program in the Town of Wellfleet has proved successful in removing nitrogen, <br /> and providing a base habitat for oysters to spawn. The value of this approach is <br /> also a beneficial model to provide strong water duality data. <br />
