Letter in Support of Ordinance#13-09: Fertilizer DCPC Michael Talbot,TalbotEcoLandCare.com
change their practices or use good professional services that don't rely on four full applications of
nitrogen each year, as many of them presently do.
Finally, we will certainly want to approach the State and the Federal Governments for help with
defraying these very high costs. When we go to the Federal and State Governments to beg for
financial relief they will ask first: "what have you done to reduce the costs on your own?" We better
be able to say to them: "we reduced the nitrogen load by regulating lawn fertilizers". For the sake of
the Cape's taxpayers, for local community control and for our children who will inherit the Cape from
us, the EOC and the Board of Selectmen of the Town of Mashpee, and citizens and professionals like
me, respectfully urge you to support Ordinance No. 13-09—the Fertilizer DCPC.
Thank you for your consideration. Do not hesitate to contact me with any additional questions or to
help draft effective regulations.
September 11, 2013 Page 4
