I have been providing lawn management services to clients since 1985.
1 am submitting this letter today, however, principally to represent the Town of Mashpee's
Environmental Oversight Committee. Known as the EOC, it is a diverse group of scientists, engineers
and citizens appointed by the Board of Selectmen for the Town of Mashpee to advise them. Much of
the EOC's work in recent years is related to the issue of degradation of our estuaries and ponds and the
concerns regarding pollution of our sole source aquifer—and how we can mitigate these problems at
the lowest cost to taxpayers. I was formerly the vice-chair of the Conservation Commission, as well.
I was appointed to the EOC because of over three decades of work pioneering and developing low
impact development, sustainable landscape design concepts, and environmentally friendly lawn and
landscape care. I have lectured on low impact turf management at national conferences for the
Professional Lawn Care Association of America and the Professional Land Care Network as well as
regional and state professional conferences from Virginia to Maine—including a series of programs
done with Mary Owen,Turfgrass Specialist for Wass Extension over a decade ago. In 2008 1 received
the "Environmental Champion Award"from APCC for my work in these fields.
This Assembly should know that both the Environmental Oversight Committee and the Board of
Selectmen for the Town of Mashpee voted unanimously in support of the Fertilizer Management
Post Office Box 187 www.TalbotEcoLandCare.com Office: 508-539-1912
Mashpee, MA 02649 e-mail: info@talbotecolandeare.com Fax: 508-539-8865
