Noonan Home: ell: Board of Selectmen Town of Mashpee 16 Great Neck Road Mashpee, MA 02649 Dear Board of Selectmen: I am writing to you to formally convey my interest in joining the Waterways Commission.I recently received a call from Don Barton,who currently serves on the Waterways Commission, informing me that he was leaving the Commission and that John West,whom I have worked with the past two years on water quality testing for the Town, had given him my name as someone who would have interest in filling that vacancy. I began the process by contacting Ken Bates,the current Chair of the Commission.After a lengthy conversation he asked me to meet with the other members of the Commission which I did on Jan 18th of this month.Following that meeting the Commission Members voted to support my candidacy and forward that recommendation to the Board of Selectmen for your consideration. The intent of this letter is to formally state my interest and to provide a brief resume of my professional background as specified on the Town website. As I told the current members there are 2 major reason for pursuing this: First,my wife and I have been avid sailors for the past 35 years.One cannot be on the water for all those years cruising and racing sailboats without developing a deep appreciation for our waters and wanting to protect this natural, beautiful resource for myself and others. Secondly,as my attached profile shows I make an effort to be active and contribute within the communities to which, I belong. As noted earlier I have been volunteering my time and boat for the past two seasons doing water quality testing for Don McDonald's team. I would like to increase my involvement with the Town and this Commission seems like a natural fit.Thank you for your consideration. Sincerely yours, Richard P. Noonan
