In
considering this conversation, Mr. McKelvey indicated the total cost projections are based on assumptions. To
remain fair and open Mr. McKelvey recommended the wastewater initiative and its assumptions are fully
disclosed and presented to the taxpayers.
In other matters, Mr. McKelvey expressed appreciation to the first responders during the recent storm affecting
the Town of Mashpee. This resulted in a lapse in cell phone operations in South Mashpee. To maintain
emergency services communication and public safety there is a critical need to construct a cell tower in this
area.
Presentation of Executive Summary of Joint Base Cape Cod Wastewater Management Plan;
Ed Leonard- Wright Pierce:
Ed Leonard, Senior Project Manager for Wright-Pierce was in attendance to summarize the Joint Base
Cape Cod Wastewater Management Plan with the Board of Selectmen and interested public. The study initially began in 2017 with the four
Upper Cape Towns including Mashpee, Bourne, Falmouth and Sandwich. Recently, (2019) the Town of
Barnstable has become an active participant.
