� r <br /> Report of the Report of the <br /> Board of Registrars Police Department <br />• To the Honorable Board of Selectmen To the Honorable Board of Selectmen <br /> and the Citizens of Mashpee: and the Citizens of the Town of Mashpee: <br /> ash <br /> P p <br /> The following is the yearly report from the Board of I hereby submit the Mashpee Police Department's . <br /> Registrars, annual report for the year 1992. <br /> Town Meetings: 1992 has been a busy year for the Police Department, <br /> Calls for services rose 7.13ercent 99 <br /> p 9 more calls than <br /> Special Town Meeting - March 16, 1992 the previous year. <br /> Registered Voters: 5413 <br /> Attendance: 396 -7% The crime statistics for Mashpee show an increase of <br /> 4.1 percent in the more serious part-one crimes and a <br /> ` Annual Town Meeting - May 4, 1992 decrease of 23.8 percent in the lesser part-two crimes, <br /> Registered Voters: 5043 <br /> Attendance: 278 - 5% The department was very busy investigating domestic <br /> disturbances this year. The number of cases increasing <br /> Annual Town Meeting - October 5, 1992 from 193 in 1991 to 269 in 1992.This type of disturbance <br /> Registered Voters: 4940 can be burdensome to a small department such as ours; <br />�t Attendance: 172 - 3.5% an officer and sometimes two officers can be tied up for <br /> hours on one case, helping victims, attempting to locate <br /> Elections: spouses, contacting court officials, serving court <br /> r <br /> documents and appearing in court. <br /> State Primary - March 10, 1992 <br /> Registered Voters: 4983 Court time also increased. Hours spent in court <br /> Votes Cast: 1629 -33% increased by 332 hours,from 2,182 hours in 1991 to 2,514 <br /> activity increased <br /> hours in 1993.The overall court <br /> y b y 17.8 <br /> Recount for Republican State percent. <br /> Committeeman - March 23, 1992 <br /> The major goal of the department in the coming year is <br /> Annual Town Election - May 9, 1992 to improve upon law enforcement efforts regarding <br /> Registered Voters: 5043 enforcement of crimes against ersons and property and <br /> p <br /> Votes Cast: 1834-27.5% drugs and an attempt to reduce part I and part II crimes. <br /> In addition, our goal is to increase our authorized <br /> State Primary - September, 15, 1992 manpower so that we can move the department for <br /> Registered Voters: 4867 traditional policing to more community orientated and <br /> Votes Cast: 1545 - 31% community problem solving. <br /> State Election -November 3, 1992 Policeersonnel action; Detective McCabe <br /> p ct�ve Scott <br /> Registered Voters: 5402 resigned to attend the State Police Academy.He* now a <br /> Y <br /> Votes Cast: 4619 -85.5% full fledged State Trooper.
