6 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> August 19, 2019 <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br /> Proclamation Suicide Prevention Week(September 8-15 2019)• Cape & Islands Suicide Prevention Coalition: <br /> Correspondence was received from the Cape & Islands Suicide Prevention Coalition dated July 2, 2019 <br /> requesting the Board of Selectmen recognize National Suicide Prevention Month, and name the week of <br /> September 8, 2019 through September 15, 2019 as "Suicide Prevention Awareness Week". <br /> The Proclamation was read aloud into the record by Selectman Thomas F. O'Hara, Clerk of the Board of <br /> Selectmen. <br /> Motion made by Selectman O'Hara to designate the week of September 8 through September 15, 2019 as <br /> "Suicide Prevention Week" in the Town of Mashpee. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Sherman. <br /> Roll Call Vote: <br /> Selectman Gottlieb,yes Selectman Cotton,yes Selectman O'Hara,yes <br /> Selectman Sherman,yes Opposed, none <br /> Discussion of La Plaza del Sol Concerns: Rebecca Oakley, Michael Robbins, Philip Afonso: <br /> At the request of the petitioners, the discussion and concerns of the La Plaza del Sol Motel would be delayed until <br /> the next Selectmen's Meeting on Monday, September 9, 2019. <br /> Acceptance of Mashpee's Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan: <br /> A Mashpee Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan (CEMP) to provide the framework for a county-wide <br /> Emergency Management System was presented to the Board of Selectmen for approval. The primary role of <br /> government is to provide for the safety and welfare of its citizens. This Plan would ensure a coordinated response <br /> to emergencies and coordinated support of certain pre-planned events. <br /> To conform to the Selectmen's recommendation,the document contains an amendment on Page 17 that adds the <br /> following language under the Plan Activation: At the time of an actual disaster, the Emergency Management <br /> Director may activate the plan if he/she is unable to assemble or contact the Board of Selectmen or in such <br /> circumstances, it is impracticable to do so. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Cotton to approve Mashpee's Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan <br /> (CEMP) as presented with the amended language under Plan Activation as referenced. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman O'Hara. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 4-0. <br /> Roll Call Vote: <br /> Selectman Gottlieb,yes Selectman Cotton,yes Selectman O'Hara;yes <br /> Selectman Sherman,yes Opposed, none <br />
