Marie Stevenson <br /> Re: Interest in joining MIDC <br /> Dear Members of MIDC: <br /> Thank you for inviting me to attend the September meeting of Mashpee's <br /> Inclusion and Diversity Committee. It was a pleasure meeting all of you. I think the <br /> mission of MIDC as outlined on the webpage is very important, and I am interested in <br /> joining your committee, and helping you achieve its goals. <br /> I have been a full-time resident of Mashpee for about three years. Prior to <br /> moving here full-time, my wife and I lived in Brookline, but spent most weekends and <br /> summers for the past 15 years at our home on Seconsett Island. I am a former nurse, <br /> current attorney and Justice of the Peace (commissioned through Mashpee). I am a <br /> Jewish lesbian, and mother of a 26 year-old daughter, and-9 year-old Golden Retriever. <br /> While living in the Boston area, I served on numerous non-profit Boards, <br /> including Am Tikva, Massachusetts Gay and Lesbian Political Caucus (MGLPC), Gay <br /> and-Lesbian Advocates and-Defenders (GLAD), and Parents and Friends of Lesbians <br /> and Gays (PFLAG). Since moving to Mashpee, I have been President of Cape Cod <br /> PRIDE, which is an organization devoted to helping to connect and strengthen the <br /> Cape's LGBTQ Community. We produce an All-Cape PRIDE Festival every June (next <br /> one will be held on Saturday, 6/27/20 on the Hyannis Village Green and everyone is <br /> welcome!), and promote local/regional (Upper, Mid, Lower/Outer Cape) LGBTQ <br /> community development throughout the year. <br /> If elected to MIDC, I would not be representing Cape Cod PRIDE, as an <br /> organization, but would proudly represent the LGBTQ Community, as a member of that <br /> community, and resident of Mashpee. I hope to help the Committee make a difference <br /> for all residents of Mashpee!
