Zolun of C ns4pee
P. 0, BOX 1108
F, MASHPEE, MA 02649
PLANNING BOARD MINUTES : 4/24/85 P. 8
Mr, Jonas : I see them in town of Barnstable and they have free-standing
signs .
Mr. Marsters : Well if you want to put one on your house what 's wrong
with that? It 's not any worse than putting it free-standing out in the
middle of the lawn. What 's the harm in it?
Mr. Jonas : It should be out near the road where someone can see it .
Let 's put it in there - free-standing sign.
Mr. Marsters : I 'm happy with it the way it is .
1,Jr . Dubin. PAe too . We 're going from a position of no regulations to
quite a bit of regulations .
Mr. Marsters : Actually this doesn't way 2 signs per what . is it per
lot or what?
Mr. Boyd : That 's the intent .
Mr . Marsters : Well T assume that but it says "residential district" .
If it 's only 2 in a district we 're really in trouble . I think it means
per lot .
or . Dubin- 01,,- anybody else have any comments on this one? (there were
none ) . Any further discussion amongst us (was none ) . Anybody agree?
Mr . Jonas : Well I would like to see put in there free-standing only.
or, Collins : I would like to see it put ona rod . You put a strapping and
have those cardboard signs stapled to each side of it and put it anyplace
you want on your lawn.
Mr. Jonas : That 's a free-standing. Why don't you like free-standing?
Mr . Dubin: I do agree that 's the best type . it 's the least aesthet-
ically displeasing .
or . Marsters : It 's the most aesthetically displeasing, It 's right out
there in your vision and it upsets the whole yard . If it 's up against
the house you probably don't see it . That 's why there not there , they 're
more effective ,
Dublin.„ But, the main reason in my opinion Is it 's enough regulation
to limit the number. I don't think it 's our business to regulate what
someone does in their ov,m yard beyond making sure they get rid of it
right after the elections , don't get sloppy with it and ignore it forever .
