This is a log book that is issued by the state Division
of Marine fisher for Shellfish Aquaculture License Holders to use while harvesting and
selling oysters during Vibrio Season starting May 191h every year. The logbook requires
that the license holder log the amount of time that oysters are out of the water and when
they are put onto ice and remain at a temperature at or below 50 degrees Fahrenheit.'
Vibrio parahaemolyticus is a bacterial species that can double exponentially in the
summer months if oysters are heated out of the water. By putting oysters on ice within a
certain amount of time the license holder can prevent this doubling form occurring and
thus protect the public health of the consumer.
Adjournment
Motion to adjourn made by Thomas 8:30 pm, seconded by Marques. All voted
unanimously.
Respectfully submitted,
Ashley Fisher, Commission Secretary
