*DRAFT* BOARD OF SELECTMEN MINUTES DECEMBER 16, 2019 8 Board of Selectmen Minutes December 16, 2019 NEW BUSINESS Discussion and Approval of the Composition of the Town Seal Committee: Town Man a er Rodney Collins-. Town Manager Rodney C. Collins brought forth a recommended composition of membership for the establishment of a Town Seal Committee. The seven-member ad hoc advisory committee would present a proposed Town Seal to be approved by the Board of Selectmen and presented to Town Meeting for adoption. The members would have the resources available to recognize the culture and history of the Town of Mashpee to develop a.proposal to be appreciated and valued by the Town. The composition would consist of one Selectman member to serve as Chair, the Administrative Assistant Terrie Cooly who would also perform the duties of recording secretary,the Town Planner Evan Lehrer,the Library Director Kathleen Mahoney,the School Superintendent Patricia DeBoer, Historical Commission member Joan Tavares-Avant and a Tribal Council designee to be determined by the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribal Council. Motion made by Selectman Weeden to accept the recommendation of the Town Seal Committee, an ad hoc advisory ground with members as identified. Motion seconded by Selectman O'Hara. Roll Call Vote; Selectman Gottlieb,yes Selectman Cotton,yes Selectman O'Hara,yes Selectman Sherman,yes Selectman Weeden,yes opposed, none The Board of Selectmen agreed to place on the agenda of January 6, 2020, the appointment of a Selectmen representative to the Town Seal Committee. It is hopeful a Tribal Council designee would be determined prior to this meeting. Discussion of a possible May 2020 Warrant Article Banning Alcohol Nips-. The Board of Selectmen discussed the possibility of placing an article on the May 2020 Town Meeting warrant to ban-alcohol nips in the Town of Mashpee. It was agreed Town Counsel would be consulted, and authorized to draft language if this.initiative is supported: It was also determined the Board of Selectmen_ would consider maximizing the fine for general littering. There was consensus to obtain additional information on this matter. TOWN MANAGER UPDATES Town of Mashpee/Lopez Land Swap: The even swap of land acreage (3.72) approved by a vote of the May 2018 Town Meeting is currently in the legislative process. The Board authorized the Town to petition the general Court to convey the Town owned parcel to Marls and Donna Lopez in October, 2019.
