*DRAFT 2 MAY 2020 TOWN MEETING WARRANT* Page 28 <br /> Article 36 <br /> To see if the Town will vote to authorize and empower the Board of Selectmen to prepare a plan <br /> laying out and defining Cove Road and accomplish said purpose and for expenses related thereto, <br /> the Town vote to appropriate and transfer the sum of $5,000 from revenue available for <br /> appropriation to the Cove Road Roadways Account, or take any other action relating th,ereto. <br /> Submitted by Petition <br /> Explanation.- This article authorizes the Town to layout and define Cove Road and to appropriate <br /> funding for this purpose. <br /> The Board of Selectmen recommends approval ofArticle 36 by a vote of <br /> The Finance Committee recommends approval of Article 36 by a vote of 6-0 <br /> Article 37' <br /> To see if Mashpee will join towns across Cape Cod in an effort to respond to a shared sense of <br /> climate emergency, based on data and warning from the scientific community. Across Cape Cod, <br /> many acknowledge that climate change is a dire threat to our well-being thatdemands immediate <br /> attention. Passage of the article will indicate that the residents, aind government of Mashpee are <br /> committed to expeditiously reducing net greenhouse gas emi,ssions'to zero by further reducing <br /> energy consumption as well as by supporting aind instituting efforts to wisely manage our land, <br /> biodiversity, and natural resources to reduce the town's vulnerability to climate change, or take <br /> any other action thereto. Submitted by Petition <br /> Explanation-. Because of threats to our health, safety, aind economic security, M,ashpee"s <br /> commiunities, service organizations, government representatives, officers, and departments have <br /> already taken many leading steps toward mitigating the environmental conditions that cause <br /> decreasing biodiversity, global warming, melting ice sheets, rising sea levels, acidifying oceans, <br /> damaging storms, intensifying heat waves, and raging fires, but CO'2 levels in Earth's atmosphere <br /> have already risen above the, acceptable 350 ppm to 415 ppm. As a member of 350 Cape Cod this <br /> petitioner urges Mashpee's residents, communities, elected representatives, and town <br /> employees to join in spirit and action with the residents of other Cape Cod towns to prudently <br /> facilitate this article's objectives. <br /> The Board of Selectmen recommends, ap roval of Article 37 by a vote of <br /> The Finance Committee takes no position, on Article 37 by a vote of 3,-3 <br /> Article 38 <br /> To see if the Town, will vote to authorize and empower the Board of Selectmen to prepare a plan, <br /> laying out and defining Oldham Circle and accomplish said purpose and for expenses related <br /> thereto, the Town vote to appropriate and transfer the sum of$5, 1 from revenue available for <br /> appropriation to the Oldham Circle Roadways Account, or take any other action rel'�ating thereto. <br /> Submitted by Petition <br /> Explanation,,, This article authorizes the Town to layout and define Oldham Circle and to <br /> appropriate funding for this purpose. <br /> The Boa,rd of Selectmen recommends approval of Article 38 by a vote of <br /> The Finance Committee recommends a proval of Article 38 by a vote of'6-0 <br />
