*DRAFT 2 MAY 2020 TOWN MEETING WARRANT* Page 3 Explanation:This article would not change what is already allowed under the current zoning bylaw with regard to solar energy systems in the, Industrial Districts. This article only clarifies that medium and large scale systems are only allowed in the Industrial Districts and, not allowed in the commercial or residential districts. This amendment is necessary for consistency with another submitted zoning article proposing small-scale solar energy systems allowed by-right in all zoning districts. Article To see if the Town will vote to a,mend §174-3 of the Mashpee Zoning Bylaw- Terms Defined as follows: Photovoltaic System (also referred to as Photovoltaic Installation): An active solar energy system that converts solar energy directly into electricity. Solar Energy System, Ground-Mounted,:An active solar energy system that is structurally mounted to the ground and is not roof-mounted; may be of any size (small-, m,ed!lium- or large-scale). Solar Energy System, Large-Scale: An active solar energy system that occupies more than 40,000 square feet of surface area. Solar Energy System, Medium-Scale:An active solar energy system that occupies more than 1,750 but less than 40,000 square feet of surface area. Solar Energv Svs,tem, Roof-Mounted: An active solar energy system that is structurally mounted to the roof of a building or structure; may be of any size (small-, medium-or large-scale). Solar Energy System, Small-Scale.: An active solar energy system that occupies 1,750 square feet of surface area or less.
