*DRAFT 2 MAY 2020 TOWN MEETING WARRANT* Page 5 <br /> Explanation-, The goal of this project is to purchase a privately-owned 11.7'1 acre active cranberry <br /> bog with a 43x3O�' barn adjacent to Santuit Pond. The project includes the purchase of severa�l <br /> surrounding upland properties to encompass a total of 13.918 acres. <br /> The project is proposed to, restore the bog to natural wetlands to improve water quality in Santuit <br /> Pond through freshwater restoration. The bogs would assist to capture phosphorus within,Santuit <br /> Pond and mitigate nitrogen in the groundwater to diminish loading in Shoestring Bay. The project <br /> would also create wildlife habitat, and provide open space,for,passive recreation. Approval of the <br /> bog property and upland parcels would eliminate development and create a contiguous 2 -acre <br /> corn'dor of open space. Best management practices would be implemented to prevent any <br /> adverse impact to the river herring. <br /> The Board of Selectmen recommends approval of Article 9 by a vote,of HOLD <br /> The Finan,ce Committee recommends approval of Article 9 by a vote of HOLD <br /> Article 10 <br /> To see if the Town will vote to appropriate and transfer the sum of$42,000 from revenue available <br /> for appropriation to fund the additioln of two shellfish upweller flolats,to the Oclkway Bay Landing <br /> Town Dock. <br /> Submitted by the Board of Selectmen <br /> Explanation-. S,hellfi,sh upweller floats are needed at the Ockway Bay Landing Town Dock to grow <br /> shellfish seed for 'Implementation of the Shellfish Component of the Comprehensive Watershed <br /> Nitrogen Management Plan for water quality restoration. The breakdown is: Engineering and <br /> permits $6,500. Purchase and installation of 2 upweller floats $30,0 and one piling $3, 01 . <br /> Power and water installation on the floats $2,00. <br /> The Board of Selectmen recommends approval of Article 10 by a vote of 5-0 <br /> The Finance Committee recommends approval of'Article 10, by a vote of 5-1 <br /> Article 11 <br /> To see if the Town will vote to transfer the sum of$350,000 from the Assessors' Overlay Surplus <br /> Account to the Assessors' Revaluation Account. <br /> Submitted by the Board of Assessors, <br /> Explanation. To transfer existing monies to the Assessor's Revaluation Account for costs related <br /> to meeting the Department of Revenue's certification requiremients,.
