6
Board of Selectmen
Minutes
March 16, 2020
APPOINTMENTS & HEARINGS
Discussion and Approval to Place a Non-Binding Public Opinion Advisory Question on the May
19 2020 Town Election Ballot:
Discussion followed regarding the non-binding public advisory question for the May 19, 2020
Town Election Ballot. The non-binding question gives a voice in a joint effort to protect the Cape
communities from the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station, a dangerous nuclear waste disposal site.
To date, eight towns have voted to support the question.
The high level of nuclear waste is projected to remain at the Pilgrim site for decades or more in dry
casks that represent safety concerns. Also of note is the lack of security to the dry casks, and the
spent fuel in the unprotected attic of the reactor building. There has been little communication with
respect to this regard.
Motion made by Selectman Sherman to approve the placement of a Non-Binding Public
Opinion Advisory Question on the May 19,2020 Election Ballot.
Motion seconded by Selectman Cotton.
VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0.
Roll Call Vote:
Selectman Gottlieb,yes Selectman Cotton,yes Selectman O'Hara,yes
Selectman Sherman, yes Selectman Weeden, yes Opposed, none
NEW BUSINESS
Discussion and Approval of Acceptance of Quitclaim Deed as Approved by Article 13 of the May
6, 2019 Town Meeting.
The Board of Selectmen reviewed the Quitclaim Deed with Quitclaim Covenants associated to
thirty-six (36)parcels of land located in Mashpee in accordance with Article 13 and the approved
vote of the May 6, 2019 Town Meeting.
