31 <br />Report of the Public Health Nurse <br />To the Honorable Board of Selectmen <br />and the Citizens of the Town of Mashpee <br />In completing my first full year of public nursing serv- <br />ice for the Town of Mashpee, I wish to express first of .all my <br />appreciation for the generous help and cooperation given me <br />by the Board of Health, Public Welfare Department, all <br />school personnel, the County Health Department, Mrs. <br />Edward Mitchell for her help in transporting dental clinic <br />pupils, Mrs. Ellen Hendricks for Dental Clinic assistance, and <br />the County Extension Service for its help and interest in <br />Mashpee Health Council work. <br />During the year, Dr. Moore conducted three immuniza- <br />tion clinics. Attendance was good in all but the last one <br />held in May. <br />In May of 1962, the new Sabin Oral Vaccine for Polio- <br />myelitis was introduced. Type I was given in May to chil- <br />dren from infancy through the seventh year. A total of <br />97 children at Samuel G. Davis School and a Saturday clinic <br />received this vaccine. In the month of June, another clinic <br />was held to dispense Type III Sabin Oral Vaccine. A total of <br />124 attended this clinic. We were very pleased with the <br />Public response in both cases to this new form of immuni- <br />zation. <br />The dental health program for this year included ex- <br />amination and classification of the condition of teeth for <br />every child in the school by Mrs. Alice Dalzell, County Dental <br />Hygienist. One hundred forty-five children were inspected. <br />Forty-five attended the dental clinic under Dr. Gwendolyn <br />Crawford in Cotuit. Of these referrals, thirty-five had dental <br />work completed. Twenty-one were x-rayed. Mrs. Dalzell ad- <br />ministered Sodium Fluoride to the teeth of children whose <br />
