39
Report of the Beach and Park Commission
To the Honorable Board of Selectmen and
the Citizens of the Town of Mashpee
We hereby submit our report for the year ending
December 31, 1962.
Each year it has been the policy of this committee to
improve our parks and beaches. At the beginning of the
season, we had the benches and tables repaired and painted.
We had the area raked and grass cut whenever it was neces-
sary and added extra trash barrels to the picnic :area. We had
proper signs made and erected. We designated a certain area
for picnicing, so as the amount of paper, trash, etc. would
be confined to a smaller area rather than have our entire
beach littered with trash. We experimented with a small
life line for safer bathing with much success and hope to
have a larger one in the future.
We are sorry to state that Attaquin Park ,Beach will be,
"Off Limits" to all Air Force Personnel, with the exception
of those members who are guests or residents of the Town.
These few will be given written approval from the Park Com-
mittee.
We are hoping to have a "comfort station" erected at
Attaquin Park this Summer.
We do not have much to say on the "seaweed" removal
at Seconsett Island; only that it was removed and in a few
days later you wondered! ! ! It was removed and there was
a,lot of.satisfied people for awhile, so we're happy.
We would like to thank each of you for the splendid
cooperation we received this past year and here's hoping we
see more of you enjoying our efforts in the ensuing years.
Respectfully submitted,
EDWIN DeWILLIS
ELMONT B.
